Hyundai’s self-driving unit 42dot has apparently decided that pre-built HD maps are for tourists. Its new Atria AI system navigates complex city and highway routes using nothing but eight cameras and an end-to-end neural network that processes raw sensor data directly into driving commands. The car is literally just figuring it out as it goes, which is either terrifyingly impressive or simply the future of software-defined vehicles.
