Instead of a quiet museum retirement, Figure sent its pioneering F.02 humanoid prototypes out with a literal bang, recreating the iconic thumbs-up scene from Terminator 2 in a vat of molten metal. It’s a brutal, multi-million dollar farewell that proves Silicon Valley has a flair for the dramatic, and perhaps a slightly worrying sense of humor about the machines it’s building. While some might have preferred seeing these historic robots preserved, Figure opted for a more… permanent decommissioning.
