LimX Dynamics Teases 'Luna' Humanoid, Jumping Into an Already Crowded Ring

Just when you thought the humanoid robot party couldn’t get more crowded, another player is pulling up a chair. LimX Dynamics, a Shenzhen-based robotics startup, has started teasing its first full-size humanoid robot, Luna. The company announced via X that the “official journey begins on May 25, 2026,” promising a full reveal of what it calls an “interactive” humanoid.

If the name LimX Dynamics rings a faint bell, it’s likely due to their previous creation, the W1. That robot cleverly sidestepped the engineering nightmare of dynamic bipedal locomotion by putting wheels on its feet, creating an agile, perching platform that could handle complex terrain without the risk of a face-plant. With Luna, however, the company is ditching the wheels and stepping directly into the brutal arena occupied by heavyweights like Tesla’s Optimus, Figure’s 02, and fellow Chinese contender XPeng. The teaser image shows a sleek, athletic design, suggesting a focus on dynamic movement rather than cautious shuffling.

Why is this important?

The arrival of Luna underscores the blistering pace of development in the humanoid space. While LimX Dynamics is a newer name, its progression from a clever wheeled biped to a full humanoid signals that the core hardware is rapidly becoming a commoditized battleground. The teaser’s emphasis on Luna being “interactive” hints that the real fight won’t be about who can walk the straightest, but whose robot has the brains—the sophisticated AI and software stack—to perform useful tasks.

The big question is whether Luna can offer more than just another impressive hardware demo. With competitors like Figure backed by OpenAI’s intelligence and Tesla leveraging its massive AI infrastructure, LimX has to prove that its software is as sophisticated as its hardware appears to be. On May 25, we’ll see if Luna is a genuine contender or just another pretty face in the crowd.
