LG CLOiD Robot Debuts at CES 2026 to Do Your Chores For You

Just when you thought your Roomba was the pinnacle of domestic automation, LG Electronics, Inc. has rolled out its latest creation at CES 2026: the LG CLOiD. This AI-powered home robot is the company’s most ambitious attempt yet to realize its “Zero Labor Home” vision, a future where you’re freed from the tyranny of household chores. LG is demonstrating CLOiD performing tasks like preparing breakfast, loading the dishwasher, and even folding laundry.

Unlike the bipedal robots stumbling through R&D labs, CLOiD is built for practicality on a wheeled base for stable navigation. It features a tilting torso that can adjust its height and, more impressively, two 7-Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) arms ending in five-fingered hands for precise manipulation. The head serves as a mobile AI hub, packed with a chipset, display, cameras, and sensors to communicate and learn user patterns. The robot is powered by LG’s Physical AI, which combines a Vision Language Model (VLM) for understanding and a Vision Language for Actions (VLA) model, trained on what LG claims are “tens of thousands of hours” of household task data. That’s arguably more time than most humans have spent observing a washing machine.

The simultaneous launch of its new AXIUM actuator lineup signals a serious commitment to manufacturing the core components for this new generation of robots. Actuators are the critical “joints” of a robot, and by producing its own, LG is betting heavily on the future of Physical AI. While the dream of a Rosie the Robot has been a sci-fi staple for decades, LG’s grounded approach—focusing on a wheeled platform and specific domestic skills—might make CLOiD the first home robot that’s more useful than a very complicated coat rack.
